Adrienne Rich focuses on women in higher education and administrative positions in this article. My parents always taught me to speak up and take responsibility rather than letting others make decisions for me and I found a connection to this idea throughout the article Claiming an Education. Women are often seen as inferior to men but they should stand up and let their voices be heard. Rich’s article is inspirational and true, one should not just fall into stereotypes and be treated like they can be ‘played with’ or used, its important to be independent and not allow others to speak for you.
